Harrington Answering Service
John Harrington also belived communications was a two way street and
despite the cost and the cumbersome equipment, having a telephone available
wherever you were could increase volume for mobile sales and service business'.
It was a far cry from Captain Kirk's flip phone communicator.  Chief engineer
Marvin Veurink showed me the inside of the trunk mounted transmitter as he was
installing one for a client. The heavy metal box with huge heat sinks was crammed with
circuit boards stuffed shoulder to shoulder with transistors, capacitors, resistors and
wiring bundles. But it was a game changer for increasing productivity.

       Somewhat more afforable was the
     personal pager. This one-way
     communicator would alert a mobile
     salesman or service tech to
call the office for updated information
on clients to contact or parts availablity.
